Redefining Wellness: A Discussion of Books and Podcasts

The ‘Redefining Wellness’ Media Discussion Group meets the first Wednesday of every month at 12:00pm - 1:00pm to discuss articles, book chapters, podcasts, and other forms of media focused on redefining what ‘wellness’ means to us. Our goal is to discuss how we can remove weight as a metric of health and focus more on the things that make us feel truly ‘well’. Each month’s topic and link to the media form will be held on this page. Each participant is encouraged to read or listen to the piece of media prior to the discussion group and come ready to discuss - and bring your lunch with you! No sign up or commitment is necessary.

This discussion group is held at The Mental Health Collaborative in Jackson, WY and led by dietitian Hannah Tripp, RDN and licensed clinical social work and Registered Dietitian Mary Ryan, RDN, CEDRD, LCSW. Please contact for more information! We will see you there!

JUNE TOPIC: The Sneaky Insidiousness of “Wellness Diets” written by Christy Harrison, MPH, RD

The goal of “getting to the root cause” that is so pervasive in the wellness industry is alluring to us all, but some of the tactics used to get there are disordered eating in disguise. Christy Harrison, author of the book “Anti-Diet", discusses how nutrition advice given in wellness spaces is often just another form of dieting and restriction. Join us on June 7th to discuss Christy’s article linked HERE.
